Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific German forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.

A Marquee Acquisition for the WSL Side

Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, has been a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival will be seen as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League team.

Her exit from Munich has been anticipated since she appeared to be holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s supporters after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.

Reports in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading strikers. Per multiple sources, all the paperwork for the transfer are now finalised.

Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack

The 28-year-old’s arrival is expected to provide a significant boost to United’s forward line. She has been highly reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.

• Over seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
• She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Gathering Steam at Old Trafford

The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when the club appear to be gathering momentum.

Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

1. The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
2. The new deal for Japan playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since arriving in 2023.
