Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his position following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
