Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
