Football Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global hiatus, but will the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's only away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was still that team's coach.

So, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I will go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.

My son advised me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are always decent at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have lots of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
